November 1 – FaithFriends

Friends of Faith Baptist of North Chili,

Don’t forget – this Sunday is the day we go back off Daylight Savings Time – and get to sleep an extra hour! Set your clocks back on Saturday night and have plenty of time to get to church for the 9:30 am hour.

We had a fruitful conference with T.W. Teall of Canton, Ohio last Saturday through Tuesday. The theme, “Our Holy God and His Healthy Church” developed into four main topics – a healthy church is… 1) a hearing group of people; 2) a hungry group of people; 3) a hardy group of people; and 4) a hopeful group of people. If you were unable to come but are interested, we now have those six message on our web-site as pod-casts. You will be able to listen to them right at your computer (click on either “play now” or “play in popup”), or you can download them to your computer and make a CD or listen to them on an mp3 player. I would encourage you to do that – they were a great blessing to our church family! You will find them at this link: www.fbcnorthchili.org/category/podcasts/

TIME FOR A SMILE

Children are natural mimics – they act like us in spite of all our attempts to teach them good manners.

The service area was located on a main highway leading to the beach. The pump attendant was accustomed to seeing tired and sunburned occupants in the cars that pulled in to tank up. When a rusty old van containing a very tired looking couple and six screaming children pulled into his station, the attendant tried small talk to cheer the occupants.
“Hope you had a good day at the beach! Nice looking kids there. Are they all yours or is this a picnic?”
Wearily, the driver replied, “Yes they are all mine and it’s NO picnic!”

A seminary student was leading the music for a small church. His first Sunday “jitters” became apparent after the choir completed a beautiful special number and, relieved, he turned to the congregation and said, “Let’s all stand and sing, ‘When We All Get to Heaven’ while the choir goes down below.”

Sunday, November 4, 2007
* Family Bible Classes – 9:30am
* The Adult Class (meeting in the auditorium) will resume the study through II Samuel with chapters 11-12, which records the weak and sinful side of a “man after God’s own heart.” It is here we read about Bathsheba and Uriah. The lesson is titled, “Trouble In David’s Heart and Home.”

* Morning Worship – 10:45am
* Our text for this Sunday is John 7:1-9, “Your Time Is Always Ready.” Can you name Jesus’ brothers? Matthew 13:55 speaks of James, Joses (Joseph), Simon and Judas. These brothers came to Jesus with some excellent marketing advice – “Go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly.” Jesus’ reply – “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.” What did He mean by that? Come and find out.

* Evening Celebration – 6:00pm
* This Sunday evening we will observe the Lord’s Table; be encouraged by Matthew 13:44-46, “The Pearl of Great Price”; and after the service enjoy a Fellowship Send-Off for Geoff and Donna Bondi (volunteers with Continental Baptist Mission’s, Nehemiah Program – www.cbmoffice.org). They will be going to Sebring, Florida this winter to help with building projects at Maranatha Village, a Regular Baptist retirement community.

That’s all for this edition of FaithFriends. Pray with me that God’s people will be equipped and encouraged and the lost will hear the good news of the Gospel and trust Christ for their salvation!

Your faithful Minister of the Word,
Pastor Harriman
