July 5 – News

Friends of Faith Baptist of North Chili,

Did you miss the FaithFriends e-mail last week? We were attending the 75th Annual Conference of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC) in Lancaster, PA. We enjoyed seeing and fellowshiping with some of the many ministry friends we’ve met over the years. It’s a little hard to believe that it was 30 years ago (this coming Monday – July 9, 1977) that Janet and I got married and then two weeks later began our ministry as pastor and wife at Grace Baptist Church of Salamanca, NY. The Lord has been absolutely faithful through the years and it is still a delight to open the Word of God and proclaim His glory, grace, and goodness!
Thank you for your interest in Faith Baptist and prayer for the Lord’s ministry here in Rochester, NY.

TIME FOR A SMILE

Now that our granddaughter no longer needs them, this is funny: “DIAPER spelled backward is REPAID – Think about it…”

The first graders were attending their first music lesson. The teacher was trying to begin at the beginning. She drew a musical staff on the blackboard and asked a little girl to come up and write a note on it.
The little girl went to the blackboard, looked thoughtful for a minute and wrote, “Dear Aunt Emma, just a short note to tell you I’m fine.”

“Skipper,” the sailor said to his captain as he saluted, “A special message just came in for you from the admiral. I have it right here.”
“Read it to me,” the captain ordered.
The sailor read, “You are without a doubt the most idiotic, lame- brained officer ever to command a ship in the United States Navy.”
The skipper responded, “Have that communication decoded at once!”

* Family Bible Classes – 9:30am
* The Adult Class (meeting in the auditorium) continues studying the Old Testament biographies of Samuel, Saul, David and Solomon. This week we will be in 1Samuel 26-29. In these chapters we see David resisting a second opportunity/temptation to kill his nemesis, Saul. Plus we will see David allied with the Philistines and Saul falling to the point of requesting a seance from a medium.

* Morning Worship – 10:45am
* In John 4:27-38, Jesus explains a new truth to His disciples. After the Samaritan woman goes back into the city and begins to share the news about Christ, Jesus’ disciples are taught, “The Fields Are White For Harvest.”

* Evening Celebration – 6:00pm
* This Sunday evening we will observe the Lord’s Table while centering our thoughts on Mark 14 and 15 and the concept of “Betrayal.”

That’s all for this edition of FaithFriends. Pray with me that God’s people will be equipped and encouraged and the lost will hear the good news of the Gospel and trust Christ for their salvation!

Your faithful Minister of the Word,
Pastor Harriman
