November 29 – FaithFriends

Friends of Faith Baptist of North Chili,

This Saturday, as an outreach event we are having a Bread Making Class (December 1st).  My wife, Janet, will be teaching bread making and sharing some techniques she learned from our Amish neighbors in western Ohio. Around fifteen have signed up to come, there is room for a few more.  Call and let us know (or e-mail) if you want to be part of that.  The point of it is to invite an unsaved friend and bring them with you to build a relationship and look for an opportunity to share Christ.

Time for a smile:

Around Thanksgiving a few years ago, radio commentator Paul Harvey shared a true story of a woman and her frozen Thanksgiving turkey.

The Butterball Turkey Company set up a telephone hotline to answer consumer questions about preparing holiday turkeys. One woman called to inquire about cooking a turkey that had been in the bottom of her freezer for 23 years. That’s right—23 years. The Butterball representative told her the turkey would probably be safe to eat if the freezer had been kept below zero for the entire 23 years. But the Butterball representative warned her that even if the turkey was safe to eat, the flavor would probably have deteriorated to such a degree that she would not recommend eating it.

The caller replied, “That’s what I thought. We’ll give the turkey to our church.”

Sunday, December 2, 2007

Family Bible Classes – 9:30am

Morning Worship Service – 10:45am

Our text for this Sunday is John 7:45 – 8:1.  The title and theme of the message is, “No Man Ever Spoke Like This Man.”  That was the excuse/reason the temple guard offered to the Sanhedrin when they came back empty-handed after being sent to arrest Jesus.  It didn’t go over so well, but they were right!

Evening Celebration – 6:00pm

As we continue our series on prayer, we come to the book of Jeremiah and are stunned by the fact that three times the Lord commands him, “Do not pray for this people.” (Jeremiah 7:16; 11:14; and 14:11)  What’s up with that? The message will be, “Not Praying Like Jeremiah.

We will observe the Lord’s Table as part of our evening service.

That’s all for this edition of FaithFriends. Pray with me that God’s people will be equipped and encouraged and the lost will hear the good news of the Gospel and trust Christ for their salvation!
